Robert Best Obituary - April 2, 1946 ~ August 19, 2026 (age 80) 

Robert C. “Bob” Best, 80, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 19, 2026.  Born in St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania, Bob grew up in Knox. A 1964 graduate of Keystone High School, he attended DuBois Business College and soon began his banking career with First Seneca Bank in Oil City. During his time at First Seneca Bank, Bob worked in the Audit Department and Bank Operations and later served as Manager of Marketing Research and Development. He continued his professional education by attending banking schools at the University of Colorado and the University of Wisconsin. Bob was a proud United States Army Reserve veteran who served honorably for six years. After many years in banking, Bob left the industry to pursue his lifelong dream of owning a business. In 1988, he purchased a local printing company and established Best Printing in Oil City, which he operated for almost 15 years. Upon retiring in 2002, he sold the business to a husband-and-wife team, who continue to operate the print shop today. Bob was an active member of the Oil City community. He coached Little League baseball, belonged to the Jaycees, and was deeply involved with the Oil City chapter of Rotary International. He was also recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow for his support of The Rotary Foundation. Outside of work and community service, Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, especially during spring turkey season. His greatest joy in retirement was spending time with his beloved and only grandson, Gavin, and he was immensely proud of Gavin’s achievement in earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra (McBride) Best; his sons, Nathan Best and Aaron Best; Aaron’s wife, Amy (Young) Best; and his grandson, Gavin Best, all of Valencia, Pennsylvania. An only child, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Raymond Best of Knox, Pennsylvania.

Family and Friends of Robert Best will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA 16046 on Friday August 28,2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. A Celebration of Bob’s life will follow at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Parkinson officiating.

In place of flowers, Bob’s family suggests memorial contributions to either the Gary Sinise Foundation, which supports our nation’s veterans, first responders, wounded heroes, families of the fallen, and those enduring invisible wounds, or the Mars Area Scouting Association, which supports local Scouting and promotes the principles of honor, duty, and helping others.
